That's All I Ask of You

Although I should correct - All I Ask Of You is the actual title

Sung by Sarah Brightman as Christine and I don't know who played Raoul on broadway. The movie had Emmy Rossum as Christine and Patrick Wilson as Raoul.

Micheal Crawford played the Phantom on broadway , who has a tiny bit of singing at the end of the song, and in the movie Gerard Butler was the Phantom.

Have I mentioned I read the book? And it's hard to get the play (or movie)out of the book.

Do you like how I keep posting these in little comments. I am so nervous someone might be answering at the same time I just keep throwing it out in little bits and pieces.

Let's see . . . I have seen Phantom, and thanks to you, I had fabulous tickets for it!! Still owe you for that one!!

Phantom was probably the start of my love for musicals. The first time I heard it was in my 7th grade choir class. My teacher played us bits and pieces from songs, on a record no less, and I instantly fell in love. In fact, I loved it so much, I asked my teacher if he would copy it on a tape for me. Now of course, I had no idea that turning a record into a tape wasn't really something people did. But my teacher figured it out. He stayed after school one day and played the record through with a boom box near by that was recording. I can't imagine what he did not saying a word the whole production. I am so grateful to him for beginning my love of broadway's, and I wish I could go back and thank him over and over. I never realized how much time it must have taken him.

I saw a documentary on the making of Phantom. Michael Crawford was a best known as a TV gag comic in a sitcom. The original phantom was a rock singer but Andrew Lloyd Webber remembered Crawford and asked him to audition. Sarah Brightman just about didn't get to perform. There was a lot of talk about her getting the part because of being Webber's wife and the understudy actually performed opening night because Brightman had larynigitis. But when she did perform, she was magnificient. The longer Crawford performed Phantom the more he took on the persona, until he became uncomfortable to be around. Crawford was in Hello Dolly with Barbra Streisand.

just great... one I knew and I wasn't home to get the points. In my defense... I was doing my calling - and was at the scout office - and TRUST ME, MY FEARS (where scouting is involved) are NOT far behind me!!!! they are just beginning. (Yes, that is a delegated area and is not fully my responsibility - but I do have to be aware and involved, and I was over there opening an account so our chairperson can pick up awards without having to spend her own money then be reimbursed each month. Once big reimbursement check to me and we should be good to go for a few months at least :P

Pretty sure I get whim points for seeing Phantom is the presence of CHARLOTTE (not carlotta) the GREAT in San Francisco (and Mercy too...) That was such a fun tradition - even if short lived.

4 points for melissa for title and song. One point for movie people and 1 point for broadway people. Another point for general OCD-ness in posting, as I would probably do the same thing. Another point for having an AWESOME 7th grade choir teacher. Love that story.

mom--one point for having read the book, another point for that interesting Brightman/Crawford trivia.

Jeri-one point for dealing with the scout office--definitely way outside my comfort zone! And, another point for our San Fran Phantom extravaganza--and yet another one because you are the reason we even pulled it together to go!

Okay, if Jeri's getting Primary and Cub Scout points, I want in on that action. I wasn't available most of the afternoon because I was fulfilling my School Community Council Chairman duties and approving our School Improvement Plan which is due by the end of the month. (If you won't give me points for that, I'm sure you're mom will!) After my SCC meeting I raced over to open the church and help set up the track for tonight's Pinewood Derby. While chatting with the brother who owns the track, I discovered that he rents it out to family groups also. I suggested that a Pinewood Derby at a family reunion might be even more competitve than it is for Cub Scouts. While he was agreeing with me, I was ACTUALLY imagining what a Corry family Pinewood Derby might be like, considering what I know of Corrys and their propensity for egg-spinning competitions and such. :)

Jeri, what's you're calling now? Are you Primary pres too??? I say points all around for Primary people!

1 point for school service, 1 point for Pinewood Derby service, and one point for the AWESOME idea of a Corry pinewood derby. Love it!

(How's that action Harmony? Acceptable?)

Great, thanks! Oh, AND I made choc chip cookies for refreshments for the Derby. Luckily, Jeff helps with the actual car. :)
