Isn't Being Alive John Travolta in Dirty Dancing? No, that's Patrick Swayze. Saturday Night Fever? I don't remember those lyrics though.
I wish Barbra would spare me her political feelings though. I've had a hard time listening to her since she came out so strong for Clinton(?) and dedicated her touring profits to the election campaign. I didn't watch the Oscars, did she sing?

Barbra Streisand doesn't sing this in the production does she?Because she hasn't been in a musical for years. Don't remember it in On a Clear Day you Can See Forever, or Yentl, or Funny Girl or Funny Lady.
I never had any problem with anyone spelling my name until Barbra Streisand became famous. After that no one could spell it right.

Had a funny experience the other day. I was reading in the front room and the front door opened. I saw the top of a head that went downstairs. Didn't think anything about it, since Dad got the IPod for Christmas and Jacob downloaded thousands of songs on it, he'll come in with his earbuds in and never say a word. About 10 minutes later Melissa comes down and asks if Kristian arrived. He is one focused kid. No knocks, no hello, he's heading for the toys. Defiantly:) someone I have to let in.

I doubt she sand it in a musical. It was in her Concert CD. That is where I have heard it. Is this a Stephen Sodenhiem. The lyrics sound like him.

Melissa-2 points for the song. Another point for an excellent guess on the writer, yes, it IS Stephen Sondheim.

Jeri-1 point for honesty, and one point because that whole Tim Allen moment is one of my favorites in the past few years, and I love to be reminded of it.

Mom-Yes, Barbra sang "The Way We Were" at the Oscars. I'll give you a point, because I agree with you about her political leanings, but really, isn't that all of Hollywood? It seems to me that Alec Baldwin threatened to move to Canada if George W was elected again. And yet, I don't recall that ever happening. Hmmm. . . Another point for awsome nephew wordplay. AND another for the visual of dad jamming out with his ipod. What a hip young man you married.
