Is this from the Unsinkable Molly Brown? Johnny sings this to Molly after she has burned all the money! I think the tune title is I'll Never Say No to You.

On another note, Molly Brown's house is here in Denver and there have been some big to-do's going on with the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

I can't believe I've lived here all these years and never gone to her house. I'll have to get on that!

Debby Reynolds was Molly in the movie. I have seen the house in Denver, but just the outside. Harve Preston was Johnny.

I don't have a clue, but it sounds like Barry Manilow lyrics to me. :-)

Carol is right again! 4 points for musical and song. Johnny actually sings it (first) when he's trying to get Molly to marry him. Another point for living in the same city as Molly Brown once did.

Mom: 1 point for actor trivia.

Harmony: 1 point for the laughs. You are cracking me up today!

I think Harmony should get laughter points on this one!

I just came back quickly to say that I always remember this musical because the first time I saw it was at a drive in with my family. We were not very rich, so the drive in was a great way for all of us to be able to see a movie. The funny thing about this was that on the night we went to see it, just after it started a huge down pour of rain started. It always seemed appropriate to me that we saw this movie through the rain - it kind of reminded me of being on the Titanic!

Also, I should have said that the anniversary of the Titanic sinking is the centennial one - a big one! Also, isn't it funny that it sunk on April 15 - tax day?!

Is there a time limit on comments on the listings? I have a good one for Ol Man River.

Charlotte said...

Nope, no time limit. If you all go crazy on me, we might enact one, but for now, go for it.

And Carol--I'll give you another point for all that titanic trivia.

This one is too easy: Titanic the movie stars Kate Winslett (a movie I have never seen because I heard that Kate Winslett bares her "soul" to Leonardo DiCaprio--so more morality points for me). Winslet also stars in The Reader, a film adaptation of Bernhard Schlink's Der Vorleser, which is an international bestseller. In the book and the film, Winslet's character is a former Nazi Prison guard who is also illiterate. She has an affair with a 14-year old boy at the beginning of the story. Winslet also bares it all in this film--and since it was in Germany when I saw it, go ahead and take all of my morality points away.

For the record, Kate Winslet's "bareness" isn't worth it.

a point for Jeff for that true confession, as well as a lot of kate winslet trivia.

I saw part of Man in the Iron Mask starring Leonardo DiCaprio this morning while I was doing a little sewing and packing my stuff for tomorrow.

Curses, now I've got Barry Manilow songs stuck in my head!
