Once again, no idea on the song, but Hamburg is definitely in Germany, although Frankfort is in Kentucky, as is Versailles. Miami (the university) is in Ohio, although the the city is Oxford.

This is about the sixth time I have tried to post. Our internet is acting up--so I am sorry if I end up multiposting:

Jeff: A point for being first on the board, and a point for all those random cities.

I'm having computer issues too - restarted 3 times in the last 40 minutes... I think this game is rigged!!!! SERIOUSLY??? A lyric with HAMBURG in it??? when Jeff is leading the pack???? (yes, I'm getting fed up with this not knowing any musicals!)

Come on 7:00... be one that I know!!!!

definitely Mamma's Little Baby loves Shortening Bread from the Jazz Singer. Al Jolson singing on one knee to the audience.

Mom, What the heck? I don't even know what you're talking about. Sorry.

This is a hint that may or may not (probably won't) help you all. This musical is definitely in my all-time top five. It's funny, it's quirky, it's adorable, and it has lots and lots of sing-able tunes. We'll probably never do it at UFOMT though, because it doesn't utilize a chorus or an orchestra to speak of.

May the internet gods continue to frown on you. May the same gods smile on the southern regions. May Melissa enter the race. May the gods reward the HARMONIOUS sounds and thoughts of a creatively inspired individual with significant numbers of awards.

You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.

That favorite made me think of it. Robert knows the answer to this one.I think he performed in it. Don't know title or anything about it but Charles Schultz lived in Santa Rose, CA as Aunt Lou Jean has mentioned.

I actually saw You're a good man Charlie Brown when I was in elementary school, in Moab, Utah--it was on the same stage, Star Hall where I performed in Fiddler on the Roof.

Desparately scrounging for points here before Harmony gets home.

You don't know Mamma's Little Baby? Its really old time with a Black Mammie bouncing her little black baby on her knee. It really isn't from a musical but the rhythm was right for the title. Just trying.

Is Pappy's little puppy Snoopy?

My favorite Peanuts character is of course, Snoopy (although I don't remember him figuring prominently in the musical.

And one last German reference: Snoopy is best known for dogfighting (pun intended) with the Red Baron--Manfred von Richtofen; Snoopy in his trusty Sopwith Camel and the Red Baron in his Triplane.

Here is the song by the Guardsmen:

and the original dogfight:

After the P-51 Mustang, the Fokker DR-1 triplane may be the coolest airplane ever.

I just listened to the whole Red Baron Song--The Guardsmen practice a little Revisionist history: In the cartoon, Snoopy is shot down and has to work his way through France. In the song, Snoopy shoots down the Red Baron. Funny

I am with your mom - I've totally been singing "mommas little baby love short'nin bread."

Mom: 1 point for that prayer. Two points for the musical. one point for knowing (guessing) that Snoopy is the one singing the song.

Jeff: a point for having seen the musical. Snoopy doesn't figure all that prominently in the musical, although he does sing this particular song as a solo, and it IS my favorite song. So, I think of him as quite prominent. 1 point for the videos, and 1 point for tying them back to Germany.

One point each to Jeri and my mom for pointing out a similarity that I never ever even thought about.
